A
New Truck for CAS

A generous gift from a local family foundation will
help the Convalescent Aid Society (CAS) serve its clients all over
the San Gabriel Valley for years to come. The foundation's gift
of $35,000 has enabled CAS to purchase a brand new Isuzu truck,
which will be put to good use delivering medical equipment to clients
and picking up donations of large equipment.
One of the areas the foundation particularly focuses on is aid to
the elderly and disabled. And those are exactly the people that
CAS serves. For more than 85 years, the Convalescent Aid Society
has been providing medical equipment--- from wheelchairs to hospital
beds--- to clients at absolutely no charge. Today, the organization
serves close to 10,000 people across the San Gabriel Valley.
CAS Executive Director Randy Votsch noted that the organization's
nine-year-old truck was long overdue for replacement, having logged
150,000 hard miles.
"The CAS truck makes about 10 pick-ups and deliveries a day,
every day, from Monday through Friday, throughout the entire San
Gabriel Valley. This gift is a real boon for us and our clients
who need larger pieces of medical equipment, such as hospital beds,
delivered to them," he said.
A CAS board member brought CAS's need for a new vehicle to the attention
of the foundation and the foundation came through with a large gift
that met that need and then some.
"This generous grant covered 100% of the cost of purchasing
and painting the new truck with the CAS logo," Votsch said.

ADDENDUM:
On Ocotber 25, 2008 the CAS Truck
made its first major public appearance at the "Make a Difference
Day" at the Recreation Park in Monrovia, CA. where used
medical equipment were donated to the Convalescent Aid Society.

Providers Group which made the event possible.
